Is
My Family Chemically Healthy?
Today the average
household has more chemicals in it than a chemistry lab did in 1900.
Our Homes have become toxic dumps.
Cancer
In 1900 1 out of 8,000 people were diagnosed with cancer
In 1997 1 in 3
In 2002 1 in 2
It is estimated that in the year 2030 everyone could be diagnosed
with cancer

What
brought about the huge change??
"Cancer and health risk experts say mainstream cosmetics and
personal hygiene products pose the highest cancer risk to the general
public, higher than smoking."
Cancer Coalition June 17, 2002
Latest research shows that a small percent of cancer is genetic.
Environment is principle role in contracting cancer. Most cancer
is caused by exposure to toxic chemicals. Especially true then long
term exposure; built up over time.
Primary
exposure
Through skin absorption - most effective, potent and therefore most
toxic. An ingredient exposed to the skin will reach every organ
in the body in a few minutes.
Household
Products
Many ingredients in our household cleaning products, personal care
products, and cosmetics are derivatives of motor oil or petro chemicals.
Household products do not require labeling of ingredients. Many
times we do not even know what is in a product that we bring into
our home.
Laundry
Detergent and softeners - daily exposure, primary exposure
-through skin.
Softener sheets - very toxic, highest toxicity
rating.
Furniture polish - very toxic,
Bath scrubs - residue in tub.
Personal
Care Products
No safety testing is required on personal care products
Not all natural ingredients are safe
Not all chemicals are harmful
95% of personal care products contain mineral oil
Mineral oil is a derivative of petroleum/motor oil and is found
to be a carcinogen.
Many personal care products contain: Mineral oil, petroleum, acetone,
butane, animal fats and by-products.
Bar soaps have been tested to have the PH toxicity of a perm.
